"It's postponed." Hunter said curtly, throwing a glance back at her. He had to bite the inside of his cheek a little to stop himself from walking over and wrapping his arms around her, but he knew it would be worth it. He just wanted everything to be perfect for her. He saw the look on her face and he took a little breath and then walked out, being sure to give the door a good slam for effect. He bit his lip a second and then hurried to his car. He got in and immediately backed out, heading for camp. It wasn't a long drive, but he needed to hurry. They had an entire wedding and reception to prepare for in less than 24 hours. Hunter was a little surprised how helpful everyone was. Will went to work in the water with some help from Kyle and Marina took it upon herself to change the dining hall into a reception hall. Kyle was right though. She was frighteningly strong. Hunter went to work trying to convince the Aphrodite cabin to do wardrobe. For Hunter and Arabella.
"Wait, so explain this to me again?" Whitney said, looking at Hunter in the eye. Hunter took a deep breath and scanned his audience. He knew most of them. There were a few new faces, but by the looks of it, they were willing to help their sibling or they had been told of Hunter's time at camp.
"Okay. On Valentine's Day, I convinced Arabella to allow me to plan the rest of the wedding and when we got home, she gave me all the stuff that she had already planned. I cancelled most of it and then came up with the plan to give her the wedding she told me she wants. She had planned this big froufrou wedding with a lot of stuff and I think it was just because that was the normal thing to do. To throw a big wedding with all of her family and her company." The looks that Hunter was getting was a mixed bag of emotions. Some of them were tearful. Others looked apathetic. "So, I pushed everything back and then planned the wedding for here. I had Danny take some incriminating photographs while making sure that nothing happened and leave them on her phone for her to find this morning."
"Did she buy it?!" Geoff in the back blurted out. Hunter nodded, taking a little breath.
"Yes, and as bad as I feel about lying to her, I'm trying to get as much help as I can to make this the best day ever for her." Hunter said, clearing his throat. "So, please. Will you help me? We need you guys for wardrobe and make up and when Arabella arrives tomorrow morning I just want you to make her more beautiful than she already is. I want it to be perfect."
"Oh, Hunty...OF COURSE! We'll help him, right?" There were cheers from the other cabinmates and Hunter couldn't help, but smile a little at their enthusiasm.
"Thank you guys, so much. I couldn't do it without you."
The rest of the day went by and Hunter was busy at work. He called in about 60 favors from miscellaneous campers. To get food. To get this. To get that. But by the end of the day it was ready. Everything was set up and everything was perfect and there was practically a hum going throughout camp, excitement for the wedding. Hunter drove home. He couldn't not see her. Hunter had talked to Danny and she hadn't called him. That was a little surprising. They talked to each other about everything. Hunter quietly opened the door and silently stepped inside, immediately shushing the dogs by giving them each a treat. Hunter carefully walked up the stairs and opened the door to the bedroom to find her asleep in the middle of the bed, still wearing his shirt.
"I'm so sorry, sweetheart." Hunter said quietly as he silently sat down on the edge of the bed. He put a hand on her hip softly and bent down placing a kiss lightly against her lips. "I'll see you tomorrow. I love you." He whispered before getting into bed next to her. Thankfully she stayed asleep, but she did snuggle up to him, throwing an arm around his middle and burying her face in his side. Hunter didn't sleep much, but he just enjoyed her presence next to him. It felt like he was making up for him lying to her. It was early when he finally decided to go. He had to make the final touches to everything. He placed a small kiss on her forehead and then slipped out of the bed. He left, wearing the same clothes on and heading back to camp. As soon as he entered camp, he was a ball of nerves. He was in Hermes cabin which was serving as a makeshift Groom's room and Kyle and Will were around him.
"Dude, I messed up!" Hunter said, looking into the mirror. He was checking everything about his appearance. His hair which the Aphrodite kids had spent 30 minutes on which was shocking because of how short it was. His blue suit which was perfectly set and that he shouldn't touch according to the people in the Aphrodite Cabin. "What if she gets here and is mad at me for lying to her, so she breaks it off?"
"It'll be fine." Will said, sitting on one of the beds as he spit and then made it do loop-de-loops out the window.
"Yeah. How dare you give her her perfect wedding?" Kyle said with a roll of his eyes. "Dude, just chill out. It'll be fine."
"You don't know that." Hunter said quickly, taking quick breaths. "What if I start to bore her? Or...or...What-What if she marries me and while we're in Greece finds the guy that she should have married? Soulmates and all that." Kyle stood up and grabbed him by the shoulders. He just looked at him for a moment before slapping him across the face.
"Stop. Talking. And. Relax." Kyle said firmly. Hunter's breathing went back to normal, but he was still freaking out a little inside his mind. "I'm your best man and as your best man, I demand that you stop freaking out. In fact, go get some fresh air. It smells like butt in here anyway." Hunter sighed and then walked out of the Hermes cabin just as Danny and Arabella emerged from over the hill. Hunter thought about sneaking away to the woods, but he steeled himself and backed back into Hermes cabin.
"She's here. That means in 2 and a half hours. I'm getting married."
